Our Network

TOA Systems has been designed to provide the greatest levels of detection efficiency for both intra-cloud and cloud-to-ground events. With super high-resolution in North America, Australia and the South Pacific. TOA operates the lightning network and infrastructure; there is no need for hardware investment on your part. Lightning data can be provided as a stream of information to ingest into your current infrastructure, or integrated into products and services tailored to your business and market.

The Global Lightning Network offers full global lightning detection with extensive coverage of Europe, South America, Australia, South-east Asia, including many areas where lightning has significant economic and safety consequences. Data is also available for oceanic and other continental regions. The network continues to expand and be enhanced with additional sensor host sites.

Our high density of sensors allows us to detect even the weakest lightning events. Our broadband detection technology operates from very low frequencies (VLF) through to very high frequencies (VHF) to ensure we can detect lightning at very long ranges, up to thousands of miles and very short ranges down to 10’s of miles.

NAPLN/USPLN

The United States Precision Lightning Network™ (USPLN™) was launched in 2004, responding to customer demand for an alternate lightning detection solution. From the start, the goals of the network were to deliver the highest level of performance for business and consumer needs, while ensuring this critical information could be obtained at a lower price point. With over 170 ground-based lightning detection sensors covering the continental United States, the USPLN provides comprehensive coverage that is timely and accurate.

The North American Precision Lightning Network℠ (NAPLN℠) is a geographic extension of the USPLN. The NAPLN incorporates over 70 additional sensors, including those from The Weather Network’s Pelmorex Lightning Detection Network. Currently, the NAPLN supplies lightning data for Canada into Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico and parts of Central America.

GPATS

GPATS has recently invested in significant upgrades to its network with the addition of large numbers new sensor sites which will lead to an eventual network footprint of over 150 sensors using our latest LPS-200 and VHF technologies. We now boast the largest precision lightning detection network in Australia.

The GPATS network has been designed to provide the greatest levels of detection efficiency for both intra-cloud and cloud-to-ground events. With super high-resolution capabilities around capital cities which enable us to produce our latest data advancements of altitude discrimination of cloud events.

GLN

Our Global Lightning Network® (GLN®) is an advanced lightning detection network providing high quality real-time lightning data to assist business operations for our clients globally. With lightning sensors strategically located at international sites, data from the GLN has the timeliness, coverage, and flexible delivery to support critical business operational requirements without compromising quality, accuracy, and efficiency..
